Cervical cyst - causes, symptoms and treatment

Nabota cyst (otherwise called cervical cyst) is a pathology, which is a small-sized, rounded-shaped formation, which contains a secret.

Danger to the life and health of women, this pathology is not in itself. However, it is worth highlighting the fact that a cyst on the cervix is a source of infection, which can be the main cause of infertility, and even lead to ectopic pregnancy.

Nabot cysts are more common in women of childbearing age (from 20 to 45 years). The symptoms and treatment of this problem will be discussed below.

Cysts on the cervix: causes

Why does a cervical cyst arise and what is it? The cervix is the entrance to the uterus, it is located in the vagina. Through it, the uterus cavity communicates with the vagina and vice versa. In its functions, it resembles a canal, one edge of which (inner pharynx) enters the uterus, and the second (outer pharynx) - into the vagina. Inside the cervical canal is a special secret that can destroy the infection and bacteria on the way to the uterine cavity.

But the quality of the contents of the secret may vary depending on the age characteristics of the woman and her cycle. The outer throat of the cervix has a coating of stratified squamous epithelium. The outer mouth is very different from the inner. The middle part of the cervical canal is located between the two exits of the cervix. It is a transformation zone.

Diseases of the cervix occur when the cylindrical and flat epithelium is modified, that is, the cells of the flat epithelium are in the inner part of the uterus, and the cylindrical - in the outer.

The result of this modification is a decrease in immunity, inflammation and blockage of the Nabot glands occur, and cysts are formed. Cervical cysts have the appearance of medium-sized multiple or single tubercles of yellow-white color of medium density, the size of which ranges from 1 mm to 2 cm or more.

A factor in the onset of blockage of the gland can be:

  1. Hormonal disbalance. The female body in general is always very sensitive to changes in the hormonal balance.
  2. Not until the end of the healed infection, when the course of therapy was terminated prematurely.
  3. A blockage may be the result of an abortion, especially if the procedure was unsuccessful.
  4. Hard past childbirth.
  5. Mechanical damage, in the form of shock or injury.

If you touch the treatment of cervical cyst, then we note that this process is not difficult, however, treatment is necessary, as well as an accurate diagnosis based on the results of not only a gynecological examination, but colposcopy.

Types of cysts

When the blockage affects only one duct of the glands of Nabota, the cyst is called single. But the duct of several glands is usually clogged, such cysts are called multiple. Sometimes gynecologists use the term “nabot cysts” to refer to multiple cysts. Multiple cysts are much more common, but they themselves may be the result of self-healing of cervical ectopia.

In addition to single and multiple cysts, endometrioid cysts are secreted, in the cavity of which, in addition to the secret of nabotovy glands, blood accumulates. They are characterized by a bluish color, the appearance of bleeding zones, which increase before the onset of menstruation.

Symptoms of cervical cyst

It is noteworthy that most often a woman with a cervical cyst does not experience any discomfort or pain. Consequently, the symptoms of a cervical cyst are virtually absent.

If a woman has not visited a gynecologist for a long time and the disease has developed, then it can be determined by the following signs:

  • bleeding not during menstruation,
  • unreasonable pain in the lower abdomen,
  • painful sensations during sexual contact with a regular partner,
  • any vaginal discharge without excitement.

You can identify a cyst:

  • colposcopy;
  • when viewed from the uterus gynecological mirror.

The cyst is a white or yellowish-white rounded formation of small size and medium density. Cervical cysts can be single, but multiple cysts are most common.

The most frequent consequences of cervical cyst (occur infrequently):

  1. Cervical infertility, when the endocervical glands grow, deform or completely cover the cervical cavity.
  2. An abscess at the site of a blocked nabot gland due to suppuration of its contents.
  3. The threat of premature termination of pregnancy due to constant irritation of the cervix with numerous cysts (or one large cyst) located in the cervical canal.
  4. Cervical deformity due to a large number of cysts or due to a significant increase in the size of several cysts.

It is widely believed that a cervical cyst is not particularly dangerous for the general condition of a woman and does not require treatment. Some experts define a cyst as a normal state of health that does not provoke complications.

Therefore, the treatment of cervical cyst examines two main course of development.

  1. Some gynecologists believe that retention cysts should be removed, since accumulation of purulent fluid inside the secretions is possible.
  2. The latter insist that education should not be treated. And in the case of the appearance of a purulent fluid, it can be removed with the help of puncturation, which continues with medical therapy, the affected area is treated with Surgitron, a special healing drug.

Treatment of cysts does not require a hospital stay. After 7-10 days, the use of candles is prescribed to speed up the healing process.

With single cysts, their complete removal is possible in several ways:

  1. Removal by laser. The laser effect is less traumatic than others, it allows you to point to the smallest foci.
  2. Cryodestruction (exposure to low temperatures).
  3. Coagulation (cauterization of the cyst).
  4. Mechanical removal of cervical cyst by conization. If the cysts are large, cause a lot of inconvenience and prevent the onset of pregnancy, then conization of the cervix is performed, that is, cutting off its inner layer.

As you can see, today medicine has several ways to get rid of a cyst of the uterus. The most suitable option for the patient must be selected by the doctor, and not by the reviews about the treatment on the Internet.

Complications of the operation should not cause. The only thing that is possible is a mild aching pain in the lower abdomen, which should pass in 1-2 days, as well as not abundant bleeding.
